President’s Notes

Dear members of FLCJ;

I believe communication is very important.  As the president of the council I am making sure you are informed on all the exciting changes and news regarding your church.

Your church’s board met in January where the 2010 officers were elected. The officers are as follows; Richard Armstrong is serving as President, Dave Clark is serving as Vice President, Joni Gegg is serving as Secretary. Cindi Norton-Williams is remaining as the Treasurer. Other members are Ron Arends, Wayne Tobeck, and Doris Meyer with Roger Francisco serving his second year on the board. Pastor Pape guides us spiritually at these meetings as well. Look for photos of the board soon.

The Elders are Peter Carlson, Matt Dibbern, Terry Howard, and Elmer Zuehls who will be contacting members of Friendship to obtain feedback and provide for our spiritual growth and needs.

Darryl Carlson is the chair of the Building Committee and is working with the committee (Peter Carlson, Rich Gegg, Lisa Helmer and Pastor Brian Pape) to refine the vision of the physical church VIA our Vision Timeline that has been posted on the rear wall of the sanctuary since the 2009 fall congregational meeting.

One exciting bit of information is about how the Lord has blessed us with another year (2009) in the black financially. This is primarily due to proper stewardship of many as reflected in their yearly giving. As you may have read in January’s newsletter the principal pay down program from 2009 was very successful – Praise the Lord!  We look forward to this next year with a new goal of $210.00 in 2010. This would be an average of $17.50 per month per family. This is a direct payment towards the principal of the FLCJ church mortgage and would expedite any future monies towards future ministries of FLCJ.

We look ahead to the month of March when Friendship Lutheran Church of Joy will be holding a congregational meeting.  The main reason is to provide a forum for an exchange of information.  We will also be deciding on what nominee we would like to submit for the Syndical election that will be held for President of our Synod in July.

Be looking for more frequent informational type meetings as we work towards building Gods church at our location!

Richard Armstrong
